Working Groups

The Working Groups have evolved over the last five years and presently consist of four main Working Groups. Selected highlights of their work include:

Skills & Inclusion

• Analysis on the future skills needs of the sector to be set out in Future Skills Report, published in June 2021.
• Responses to the MAC consultation requests by the Immigration sub-group
• Worked with DBT (formally BEIS) and the Home Office to help ensure the importance of global talent is recognised within the government’s approach to areas such as post-graduate visas

International Trade

• Provided technical support to government on services provisions, which will help shape the UK’s approach to future FTA negotiations
• Created an Engagement group to convene other PBS stakeholders in the EU in support of providing sector data points for UK Brexit negotiations
• Provided detailed evidence to Select Committees, most recent appearances include in 2020 and 2021
• Parliamentary stakeholder engagement in 2018

Importance of Place

• Gap analysis exercise led to a DBT (formally BEIS) commissioned research report that looked creating further demand and growth outside London with the PBS sector.
• Submission paper to Neil O’Brien MP in August 2021 on Levelling Up.

Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG)

• This is a new group, set up to engage in promoting and enhancing the PBS sector’s responsible business activities
• It has two subgroups focusing on Climate & Carbon and Culture & Workplace
